“By the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over,” – Rep. John Fleming (R-La.)

That is the voice of the “New” Tea Party led Republican Party.  In Washington DC, more than 30% of Africa American men residing East of the River are unemployed – I think any one of them would like to trade places with Rep. Fleming.

Talk about out of touch!

Let’s understand something, this is not an outlier, this is the pervasive ideology of half or our political class. A class that has the audacity to cry “CLASS WARFARE” because the President has decided to champion the cause of the financially distraught middle and poor classes of this country. If you don’t believe me just look at the economic benefactors of the last ten years:

The top 1% of this country’s (economically speaking) income has increased 286% since 2001, while the remaining 99% income has increased just 1%.

Soak it in. Yes…the disparity is immoral and unconscionable.

But what must be understood is this evil economic reality is being protected by a despicable duo of political and intellectuals on the conservative dais. If you don’t believe it read the latest study on poverty by conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation entitled “Air Conditioning, Cable TV, and an Xbox: What is Poverty in the United States Today?” A study which concludes astonishingly that poverty isn’t as big an issue as should be imagined.

Why, you ask? Because comparatively the “poor” in America are so much better off than the poor of European or…wait for it, when our soldiers returned from battle during World War II.

According to the Heritage Foundation, if you have air condition – your not really bad off; if you have a serviceable car – your really not poor; if you have a color TV, cable or an Xbox in your one bedroom apartment, which is home to 4 – you are doing fine!

This is the thinking class of Republican politicians. This is who they use to craft their messages. In other words the callous and uncaring are led by the indifferent and unfeeling.

We are in the midst of a class war, but it has not been Democrats, and certainly not the President who has thrown down the gaunlet. It is the plutocrats called Republicans that have perpetrated CLASS WARFARE on this country. It is Republicans who stand on the side of the privileged and safe and against you and I.

But take heart, the only thing you need to do to emerge out of this abyss is stop paying for amenities and keep the windows open…you’ll be fine!
